Advantages
- Wheat has high protein and amino acid content (wheat 13.5%, while corn 8.7%), which can save the expensive cost of adding protein raw materials;
- Wheat has high effective phosphorus content (wheat 0.21%, while corn 0.10%), which can save the use of calcium hydrogen phosphate;
- Wheat has low crude fat content (wheat 1.70%, while corn 3.60%), which can greatly improve the quality of meat carcasses.
Disadvantages
- Wheat has a high cellulose content, mainly xylan. The xylan content of different varieties of wheat is often 1% N 10%. Since the pig digestive tract cannot secrete endogenous xylanase, it is necessary to add special enzymes exogenously to improve the digestibility of pigs to wheat.
- Water-soluble xylan will produce viscosity in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby affecting the normal peristalsis of the gastrointestinal tract, inhibiting gastrointestinal polypeptides, and causing pancreatic juice secretion disorders.
- Xylan will constitute the component of plant cell walls, and after the cell walls wrap starch granules, they will hinder the digestion of starch by animals.
- Since xylan will be used by hindgut microorganisms, it will lead to microbial proliferation, resulting in loose stools, diarrhea and other problems.
